It may be frugal, but .....
« on: December 01, 2010, 21:48 »
We have a house with bedrooms upstairs and down.  Mine has always been the downstairs one, and OH upstairs.    In a decision to be frugal we decided to close down the top of the house, and that he would come and 'sleep' with me.     But now a couple of weeks on, and I am wondering, ' is this taking frugal too far'    regards Mrs Bouquet

Definitely!  :D  I would love to get a peaceful night's sleep, but Brian says I'm stupid if I suggest moving rooms!

Perhaps I should just keep 'accidentally' falling asleep in the lounge on my sofabed, which 'accidentally' opens up and its already made up??

OH must be the most untidy sleeper.   The sheet is in a knot, the blanket is wrapped around him, and all pulled out at the bottom, his pillows become completely deformed, and he gets up looking like he's come out of the rag-bag and as for the snoring etc, I won't even go there.   Do I love him - of course I do, and its much warmer.  regards, Mrs Bouquet

Actually, I don't think he will go now, because he says, 'I would have nothing to get on to him about, and its all my fault he's in such a muddle'
Don't ask me, I don't know.   Why isn't there a little picture of somebody shrugging their hands and shoulders.    Mrs Bouquet

surely in a spirit of frugality your OH could be induced to have some kind of allotment-related accident, with concommitant insurance rewards, reduced food bills and lodger potential?
 :)

Lots of really good ideas.  I think when he is asleep, I shall stick something up all his orrafices. :D :D :D regards, Mrs Bouquet

Something that saved my sanity was those yellow foam ear plugs you can get from pharmacies and elsewhere.  They can block out the sound of a chain saw.  So instead of sticking something up his orifices you ought to stick something up yours. ;)

I've got loads of those yellow ear plugs Ice, but even though they are soft, as I sleep on my side, they still hurt my ears!  :(

It's a bit of an art inserting them but I found them ok.  You need to warm them between your fingers, roll them thinly into a tube shape and insert them into your ears, pulling the lobe down as you do.

The benefits far outweigh the very slight discomfort when you get it right.

get him to sleep on his side, usually works here, or maybe it's the waking him up and then I get back to sleep before him?
I've heard of sewing a tennis ball in the back of pyjamas to stop people sleeping on their backs
