Eggs for Incubator

I read somewhere that you can keep eggs for up to 10/14 days before setting them in an incubator, does anyone know if that is true. I have ordered  3 lots of eggs which I wanted to set at the weekend but have now found out one lot won't arrive until Monday and then they have to rest.......

Potentially they can remain viable for longer than that but perceived wisdom is before 7 days is your best bet. :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!
