I don't chit. I sowed my seed in small pots, watered and placed in my greenhouse under a cloche to double-insulate. 100% germination  :)
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

Due to holiday I won't be sowing mine until mid May this year.  I am hoping it won't be too late, although judging by the weather at the moment I would struggle with keeping them warm enough if I had sown them.
