Title: Cooking duck eggs on a shovel !!!!
Post by: wolverine on March 23, 2011, 19:17
I'm working on a building site in cossington and just behind the house we are working on is a duck shoot. anyway today one of the brickies came up to me and told me they ha found a nest with 7 eggs in  :)
non of them had ever tried a duck egg before I assured them they are the best!!! and a fire was going so they cleaned a shovel put it on The fire and almost perfectly fried 4 beautiful big duck eggs right there and then on a big old shovel To go in the rolls at tea break .
it made me smile. I've kept the other 3 for me  :tongue2:
made the day at work a bit less boring.

I suppose that depends on what you were shovelling before you did it!  :tongue2:

wolverine, good on you for introducing more people to duck eggs.  I'm surprised they let you take the rest home once they'd tried them.

The RSPB and police may make life less boring if they read your post.
Close season protection includes the eggs. ;)

hi 8doubles I hadn't considered the close season to be honest and even if I had would it have stopped me ???
No because these eggs were in the way as the nest was very close to the house and would have almost certainly have
been abandoned as we would have been working to close
been damaged as we were working so close
luck had it that we had a fire on  :tongue2:
RSPCA and police I'm sure have better things to do.
