There are a few comments on here at the moments about them not being nice to the hens. Mine are all now 6.5 weeks old and 4 of my 6 are going to my friend to be reared for table. They can go to her whenever I like but I am just hanging onto them for another couple of weeks when I get some new girls. I am away at that time and thought I would do the big change over when I am back.
Does anyone think that I should remove the boys sooner rather than later or won't the 2 weeks make any difference

Cockerels can be pretty aggressive when they get their first flush of hormones, between 12 and 16 weeks (they tend not to take "NO" for an answer, and jump on any passing pullet  ), and then in the spring, until they calm down again.

You shouldn't have any problems with little chicks

Good, as my friend is good enough to take the boys back thought I should do my bit to grow them a bit bigger for her

I've not had as much experience of cockerels as others have and maybe the ones I've had have had nice natures, Joyfull Sablepoot cockerel was very gentle and handsome, but not all cockerels are vicious surely?
