Hello lovely people!

My Silver Sussex Genevieve (18 months old) has suddenly become broody over this last week.
She is upsetting the apple cart somewhat as she has taken the favourite nesting box of the three

She's even sitting there when the eggs have been taken from beneath her? 

We don't have a cockerel so it's a pointless exercise. None of the 10 girls have ever been broody before so why now??

Genevieve seems well. I lifted her out of the nest box this morning and took her round to the run and she enjoyed some food with the girls (including nummy treats like mealworms and canary seed, but this evening she's back in the box sat on one egg which I've now taken.

Besides making a broody box (as I've read about) any other ideas why or what I can do?

it is a totally natural event and they don't need eggs to go broody  just put her in a safe draughty cage with food and water ,she will be fine and soon snap out of it

you could try an iceblock wrapped in a towel under her.
