Homebase Jamie Oliver Tomato's
« on: June 23, 2012, 12:54 »
I was in Homebase last night on my regular hunt for reduced plants, they had hundreds of them they seem completely incapable if getting the host out and watering anything! Anyway I got hold of some Jamie Oliver Plum Tomato F1 Grafted Variety, they were terribly root bound however the stems were lovely and green and strong with some great foliage and even some really nice flowers, they were falling over due to needing to be re-potted desperately.

They should have been £3.99 a plant I got 4 for 50p each :) Is anyone else growing any of these? Any tips? I have re-potted them into some nice big pots using Clover growbag compost, staked them and give them a good drenching last night, they seems to be happier today.

I did break one of the stalks about 4 inches from the bottom, it did not break off completely so buried it up to this point then staked it, again it looks OK today, anything else I should be doing with them?

Worth calling into Homebase if you are near one today :)

We've got a thread in Frugal Living about the latest Homebase offerings this weekend. ;) :)

But you've asked a growing question in this thread, so I think we need to leave this one here. :)

Yep I got 20% of two reduced price tomato plants.  Have got loads of Moneymaker plants grown myself from seed but just could not resist Jamie's plum and cherry tomato plants at 99p each.
