Anyone looking for an allotment in Derby?
« on: February 23, 2013, 15:49 »
Hi

If you are looking for an allotment in Derby, specifically the areas; Derwent Heights, Chaddesden, Oakwood and Little Chester...although people resident in other surrounding areas would be considered, please contact me. Our allotments currently have a couple of empty plots (unusual but true :))

Regards
Julia

Is it council or private ?

What are the plot sizes and rents?

Sunshineband - I think the weather last year left a few plot holders despondent so we had quite a few people give up their plots, also we had a few older members give up due to health problems so have cleared our waiting list...for the time being, although we expect it to start building up again once the new season starts. We currently have 2 empty plots.

Aunt Sally - We are a council allotment which is run by an association committee.  Our annual rent for a full plot (250sqm) is £46.  We have plenty of facilities, such as a community room, shop and toilets.  Water is available via troughs that refill, these are at regular intervals around the site (on average 6-8 plots to a trough) and you can have a tap on your plot for a extra £12 per year.  All plots are accessible by car and we are a secure site, only plot holders have a key.

I'm sure the plots won't be available much longer but I thought it might be nice just to give someone in the area the heads up :)

Hi
I'm not sure whether all the plots have now been taken but if you want to come along to our site any Sunday between 10-12 we have an allotment shop which is open to the public, you can have a look around and if you like it you could put your name on the waiting list (if we don't have any free plots).
Our allotments are just off Old Mansfield Road, called 'Little Chester Allotments'.  Derwent Heights overlook our site and we have great views of Derby.
Hope you get chance to pop down, I'm sure you'll love it  :D

Hi Frances

I am the secretary at Little Chester Allotments in Derby, we are just off Old Mansfield Road. We currently have a small waiting list but we should have a few plots become available mid October. Contact me directly via our website or pop down and see us any Saturday or Sunday 10-12 when our allotment shop is open to the public. Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards Julia
