I grew my first toms. with a plastic greenhouse like this. The base of the frame was pinned down with long metal tent pegs that went through the bottom of the frame. I've got a similar one that I may use as a back up if needed this year. The original lasted two years before holes appeared due to the suns rays. I think that you get what you pay for.

I think that if it's for starting/hardening off seedlings then you are better off making a cold frame. Few bits of polycarb type plastic, or old windows and a few planks of wood and you are away.

plastic greenhouses are very flimsy, but some people do manage with them. It depends on how sheltered your garden is.

I bought A cheap plastic greenhouse of off ebay for £50 (5ft x 6ft )
Its on my allotment, i anchored it down with treated wooden stakes. 2 per side.
to make it more stable in winds, it was a bit flimsy. i attached garden wire from corner to opposite corner on the diagonal. Hope that makes sense.

It stayed up throu the winter with no damage

I bought one last yr to go in my back garden. I put my seedlings in it and it did a ok job.

Have found over winter the plastic has gone hard and brittle so it has ripped very easy around the seams.  Wilkos do sell a new cover for £5 which i have bought. so be prepared to buy one of these next yr. I suspose this is why they sell new covers.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Hi, all , i bought one of the wilko greenhouses last august....thing blew over in october with the strong winds destroying around 20 trays of herbs >:(  however due to cost of new glass houses now i decided to persist this year and have ensured the poly tails are tucked under the frame and added around 20 extra 9" u clips to pin it down. big issue i find with them is lack of a ventilation flap (or window) which means very difficult to control temp and or humidity

I wieghed my down with two 25kg bags of gravel.

I also found that the plastic went brittle over winter. Ive patched mine up with the remains of a clear plastic raincoat and a tube of pvc pipe adhesive :D

i find its hard to weigh down to many bits of push in pipes  etc ....the other thing i forgot to mention is that since rebuilding i have used string to create a netting structure all round reducing the risk of the pipes lifting out of the brackets ...... took a while but after last years cost definatley worth the extra hour and ball of string  :D

I was real happy but then really annoed. Oh well, live and learn :(
