Only connection I can think of is that Lidl is a German company, and Beethoven, who was also German, wrote "Furry Lees" if I remember correctly, although I can't find any references to furry German radishes as such.

I would need half a gallon !
A bit too fierce for me but my next door neighbour loved them !
They are not all hot, some are just moderate.

The variety is "Ostergruss Rosa 2" and looks more like a pink carrot than a radish!

Gurgling suggests they are otherwise known as "German salad radish" which probably explains the link to beer drinking, although I have to confess the idea of sitting in the garden munching long pink radishes and washing them down with pints of lager doesn't sound that appealing to me.   

Can't find any reference to them being unusually hot, although it could depend on how quickly they are grown I suppose - will sow very soon as they are a cool weather crop, so shouldn't have to wait long to find out.
