Title: What pepper is this?
Post by: BumbleJo on September 16, 2017, 12:07
Hi folks, have been given this by a fellow allotment holder who thought he was growing a red pepper as was on the label.  Can anyone identify what variety it is?  There are lots of white flowers yet to form fruit also.
Cheers!

If it's a sweet pepper rather than hot (chilli) then probably Purple Marconi.

I thought the fruit looked purple? or is the photo misleading?

I've got a purple Gusto but the fruits look smaller.

The fruit are definitely purple, I think it could be Gusto Mr Dog.  The fruits are 6-7cms long, too short to be a Marconi I think MOS.  Time for a taste test maybe..

Fruits on mine are 2-3", so about the same size. The picture was taken about a month ago, the fruits are now starting to slowly turn green (and I believe eventually red). I've sampled one at the purple stage, warm but not unbearably hot with a fruity flavour. One I'll be growing again.
