Carrot Tops
« on: February 28, 2009, 15:04 »
Hi!  I purchased a big bag of Horse Carrots last autumn and have about a third of the bag left.  I noticed that some of them are starting to sprout on the ends.  So today I cut most of the carrot off each and planted the sprouting ends in the ground with the green bits sticking out.  Do I have a chance of getting real carrots out of them?  Or is this just a loopy    idea that won't work?  Thanks!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Carrots go to seed in the second year, so unless you want to save your own seed, The compost heap or wormery is the best place for them.  :(
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
