Hello! I am a complete newbie to allotments and having just got my first one I am very excited! :)
I need to clear it and sort out the boundries and composts but there is one bed I want to get ready asap and that is gonna be for garlic, which i love! I just want to know what is the best thing to plant with garlic? I intend on growing herbs, flowers and plants as well so any suggestions would be very welcome!
Thanks in advance!

Most things are ok with garlic......and don't forget that garlic can keep away nasty bugs from other crops, including flowers!!!!........lots of bugs don't like the smell!!! ;)

how about MORE garlic? you can never have enough Garlic :D :D

 Never a truer word spoken!!! You can never have too much garlic!
Just wanted to make the bed look a bit pretty too! So any hints on what flowers would be suitable would be appreciated! I know this sounds quite anal, but I was gonna go with blues, whites and oranges in the flowers just to brighten the place up! You can tell I am a girl!
Its a south facing plot ona hill which is exposed to south westerly winds so i think anything that grows fairly low would be good, just dont know where to start! :)

you sound just like me :D I plant all my veg with flowers. Red cabbage and calendula looks fantastic :D
I've grown some gorgeous sage from Suffolk Herbs which has large pink flowers which turn to purple and last for months. These looked gorgeous with savoy cabbage, and I'm convinced they keep bugs off :D
A good book for inspirational ideas is Joy Larkcom's Creative Veg Gardneing which you can lend from the library
