Is the red spider mite that will feast on our chooks the same ones that I see in my garden? I can see them on the wall round my patio during the day, but I thought the ones that would plague my coop where only active at night. When I search on google lots of hits come up in gardening forums, do they eat plants too, or is there 2 different species?

dont worry Parson, the red spider mite that you see during the day on your patio is not the poultry red mite. Red mite are smaller and you tend to see them at night, during the day they are minute grey or black dots.
