I bought a lot of trees from Ken Muirs and I knew I had to erect straining wires at close centres so I could train the trees as espalier (apples and pears) and fans (plums). Their catalogue included some recommended material for the wires and packs of gripples so I ordered some and have tried them in teh alst few days -- brilliant is all I can say.

The farmers and fencing contractors use them by the bucket load. :)
