Guess who spoils their hens, :D
Welcome to the forum Henman , cut down on the maize and they will scoff the wheat. :)

don't give them too much cheese as it is very high in fat.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Welcome hennman,   i'd live off red wine, cheese and red meat but i know better :(, and might not be here to long if i didn't! Chickens dont know too much, so watch the diet or they wont last as long as they should :(

If you feed them only maize they will get fat and stop laying.

Stop all treats and feed only good quality layers pellets (or mash) - which should be available freely all day.

They may not eat for a day or two if they are very fussy, but they will soon tuck into the pellets when they are hungry enough.

After a week or two you can introduce a handful of grain at the end of the day as a "go to bed" treat.

my chickens also only eat the maze out of the mixed corn, so i just buy bags of split maze now, the only time i feed it to them is a handfull with the scraps, or sometimes on a cold night when the sky is clear and i think they are going to need a little bit in there bellys to keep them warm for the night, remeber the old small houlders saying, a fat chicken is not a fertile chicken, but then a skinny chicken is not a healthy chicken, so u need to keep a fine balence.

just give them there layers in the day then only in the evening give them a little extra if u want. i allways do it this way and neva get anyproblems.

How big is a 'handful' lol.  My grandaughter always picks me up on it when I say a handul each - she's 8 - then I say 'a bit more' when it's HER handful. :D

Get your scales out Casey - how many grams?

Level or heaped ? :D

I`ve always given 20g per hen and use a plastic cup which level filled has the right amount.
