I've just read that you shouldn't plant carrots near parsnips.  What's the definition of "near"?  I have a 3 x 4m bed that I was planning to plant them both in.  Would they be ok with a few rows of onions between them? 
I may have to rethink my planting plan!  Any advice welcome.

Never heard of that before.....did it give a reason why?
I'm sure I've grown the 2 side by side before I started growing carrots in baths.

Odd ... I have mine next to each other a trowl length apart .... they are doing fine, parsnips just starting to break the soil!

They are both prone to attack by carrot fly so perhaps the advice was about reducing the risk (the flies are attracted by the scent.)

Not a problem if you use enviromesh to protect all of them.

I've not heard of any other disadvantages of growing them together.

I read it on a veg growing app but that must be wrong as fellow lotty growers obviously know best.
