I thought I should share this wonderful story about our friend John and his dog.

John had a full and productive life with a wonderful family and and he was a skilled craftsman. Sadly Johns sight began to fail and it came to the point that he had to have a guide dog. When John was sighted he loved to play Bar Billiards and had many friends through the pub game and John continued to socialise with them.

A gang of us went to a large BB  tournament near the sea and John came to. The tournament was spread over three days. As I'm sure you all know guide dogs are on duty 24/7 but they do need regular exercise and play. John would take his dog to the flat sandy beach near our hotel several times a day and the dog would have a happy doggie time. One afternoon near the end of a beach session John called his dog back to him. His sight was not completely gone, he could just make out shapes. The dark shape of his black lab appeared and John put the dog back on his lead. To his horror he heard a cross mans voice shouting. "What the f**k do you think you are doing mate?" John could only stand there while the angry man came closer, shouting abuse.

The dog John had put on the lead was the cross mans dog. His guide dog was standing close by but John of course could not see that there were two black labs so near!

Forever after we always ribbed him that had he had come out with the right dog!?
