Title: Fresh horse manure
Post by: richy on August 03, 2011, 14:41
Is it ok to dig in some fresh horse manure( about 2 months old) now? It would be where i am going to plant my overwinter onion sets.

I wouldn't plant anything near it till spring when it has rotted down a bit.

I agree, it's still too fresh and is more likely to burn the sets.

Best to let it keep rotting and find a bit of older manure for this task.

Or you could use some in layers in your compost bin to heat it up & speed up the process & then put that in your beds.
