Title: Manure
Post by: GreenDavie on April 12, 2008, 14:11
Hi

I'm just about to take over an allotment and i was just wondering when the best time is to add some manure. The plot is very overgrown and I'm therefore planning to "round-up" it leave for a few weeks then rotovate it. Should i then add some manure now. I really don't know . Thanks in anticipation.

Regards  :D

Providing it's well rotted, I'd say chuck it in when you rotavate, but if you are intending growing root crops like carrots & parsnips, don't put any there.

Spuds do not count as a root crop & will love it.

this your 1st plot ,
clear it after round up , dig it over ,
leave to dry out , check for weedsagain , round up ,
then apply manure and dig in
after youve dug in the manure then you can
rotovate to your hearts content,
