Im so excited.
« on: August 10, 2011, 16:32 »
Had some good news at lunchtime today, a zero tax bill for this year, so the money I'd saved on the off chance that we'd have to pay some, has paid for our new chook house. We ordered it about an hour ago, and hopefully it will be here in the next few days. We will be pressing on with the run starting tomorrow, (Ive been poorly today, so havent been able to do anything strenuous). We can then start looking around for our new girls. Im not just going to get any that are available, Im certain that I want a couple of bluebelles, a couple of light sussex, and some reds. Ill get 6 and a cockerel. The house holds 8-12 hens, I assume the 12 would be bantams! Ill wait and see how comfortable the 7 are in there before I think of getting any more.

Believe me everyone, Im sitting here, grinning from ear to ear at the thought of getting some chooks again. The boys (my baby billy goats) will be pleased too as they loved watching the girls I used to have. Although they will be in a closed run, the boys will be able to see and hear them, it will keep tham amused.

Ooooh Life IS GOOD!

Oh that's brilliant!  I'm excited for you too!  :D

It's funny that we can read about the trials and tribulations of people we have never met, on the other side of the world, and feel for them as if they were a friend or neighbour.

I'm so pleased you will be getting hens again, NormandyMary. :)

Thanks Joyfull. I will take a couple of pics of the boys in the next day or 2 and post them. They are growing well, their horns have got a lot bigger and Im no longer able to pick them up without doing my back in! I will be trimming their hooves in the next day or so that WILL be fun as Ive never done it before. Daddy will be on hand with a biccie as a treat when they've been done. They are both so affectionate now, they give mummy a good night kiss every night. Even Billy who was so reserved at first, now loves a cuddle. I just love the boys so much, they were the best birthday pressie EVER! Cant wait to show them off to you all again very soon.
