Apple Trees - Cordons

Hi, I am about to attempt growing apple trees (2 x bramley & 1 x Cox) for the first time. I have been told that they are self polenating.

I would like to train them to grow along some wires I have put in place to form a cordon.
Can you give me some advice on how to shape them, is it too late now to start pruning?

There are no signs of blossom on the trees but they do have buds on.

They are not self fertile, sorry.
You will need another apple nearby that flowers at the same time as your Bramley, because it is a triploid apple....this means that it needs to be pollinated by 2 other apples that flower at the same time. Cox is one of those so that good.

When yours flower have a look locally to see if any others are flowering, if not you will have to buy another from group 3.

Lesley is spot on there Mark. You need a variety such as James Grieve or Fiesta.
