gloopy albumen
« on: May 22, 2011, 18:45 »
One of my girls is laying an odd kind of egg at the moment - the albumen is gloopy, kind of gelatinous!

She's laid a few of these on consecutive days and the yolks have been on the small side but yesterday's egg didn't even have a yolk.

Any ideas please?

An egg without a yolk is called a blind egg. Sorry not much help but hopefully someone else will be along shortly. :)

This defra document has loads of information on egg quality.  Hopefully it might answer some of your questions.
