crocks drainage

I am going to plant some things in containers. I have run out of broken pots and polyseterene chips. Don't really want to buy anything. I do live 200 yards from the beach, is it illegal to get stones from there, I have always though it is. Although even if it is not they will be heavy to carry home.

So any ideas, what do you all use.

Ps the holes are skewer size in a B&Q bucket so they probably will clog up without something.

yeh take a carrier bag for a walk with the kids same as i do the stones of the beach fit the carrier bag perfectly
