I have a shed down my allotment and have put some guttering up and bought a water butt. Problem is, the connector that came with the water butt is one that you place half way down a normal downpipe (the the one here: http://www.wickes.co.uk/rain-diverter-kit/invt/543003/) so in theory your water still travels down the pipe and the water butt catches a small amount. Now as we don't have drains and want to catch all the water, is there anything we can do achieve this?
Any help appreciated

I have the same set up and have a small length of guttering wedged under the underside of it and balanced on the top of the water butt (which has a couple of holes drilled in the top) - held in place with bright red duct tape (it comes in handy for all sorts!)... I think I have a photo...
found one - not the prettiest but it works ;)

:) The Plotfather cut a hole in the lid and put the end of the pipe leading down from the gutter, directly into the butt.

I would have done that if I could have the butt underneath - much easier I expect!

As long as it catches the water, that's the main thing :) I tied a pop sock to the end of my down pipe to stop bits getting into the butt and blocking my tap :)

I cleaned my popsock out the other day and it was really heavy and filled with gritty muck from the roofing felt etc. I use string to secure the sock to the pipe. It does self cling quite well as the elastic top of the sock is quite snug, but once it begins to fill with debris it starts sagging :)
