Will dahlias keep procuding flowrs if I dead-head them?

How far down the stalk should I clip them off?

Thanks :)

I always deadheaded my dahlias, I'm not sure whether the plant would produce the same number of heads anyway, but it looks tidier!

I also snip down to the next joint in the stem, so there's no long bit of stem to die back.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

In the field we only grow a specific amount of flowers per plant, so dead heading doesn't increase numbers. We still do it though so the plant concentrates on the remaining flowers ;)

At home we dead head for the same reason as yorkie, they look bl**dy ugly when they're past their best ;)

You don't particularly get any more flowers, that I've noticed, but you do get better/bigger flowers ... for a similar reason I usually take out every other side shoot, in a corkscrew pattern, that form on each stem ;)
