Will dahlias keep procuding flowrs if I dead-head them?

How far down the stalk should I clip them off?

I always deadheaded my dahlias, I'm not sure whether the plant would produce the same number of heads anyway, but it looks tidier!

I also snip down to the next joint in the stem, so there's no long bit of stem to die back.

In the field we only grow a specific amount of flowers per plant, so dead heading doesn't increase numbers. We still do it though so the plant concentrates on the remaining flowers

At home we dead head for the same reason as yorkie, they look bl**dy ugly when they're past their best

You don't particularly get any more flowers, that I've noticed, but you do get better/bigger flowers ... for a similar reason I usually take out every other side shoot, in a corkscrew pattern, that form on each stem
