How do you sow your green manure?

As the title,

Do you,

1, broadcast and rake in

2, broadcast and leave

3, broadcast and water in

4, broadcast rake and water in

5, sow in neat lines and rake in

6, sow in neat lines and leave

7, sow in neat lines and water in

8, sow in straight lines rake and water in

Just wondering as i may think about giving this a go again as it will be cheaper than buying manure in the quantities that i will be needing.

Its keeps the beds covered but Im somewhat sceptical about the other claims made about GM in general. I have found it no where near as good at conditioning the soil as precomposted organic matter, be that manure or homemade compost.

It's got to be better than nothing and if done every year it must make a difference!

I can't get hold of manure where i am now and the stuff i can get would cost me several hundred pounds to do the area that i need from MR M***s and that would be on an anual basis, on top of the sharp sand.

So i would just like to see how others do it, i did it before and it was patchy and i also had lots of the stuff comming up as weeds the next season and would like to avoid that if possible.

Here are some helpful videos on doing green manures. Can't stress enough the importance of leaving the turned over manures for a minimum of 4 weeks before planting. The decomposition of green manure will affect the new plants/seeds you set in.
