Jam Jars
« on: July 20, 2009, 11:37 »
Not sure if I'm allowed to do this BUT i've just found on EBAY some really lovely jars for jams chutneys ect.   I adore the hex shape.  They are not badly priced either as i've looked at the jamjarshop.
I have gone for 4oz hex just to see.  Can't wait!!!

Have a look and see what you think....

Had a quick look. What are you going to do for caps? Or are you planning on making your own covers?

That's brilliant value, I've bookmarked it thanks. I'm off to pick more raspberries to make into jam for the church fete this weekend.

Hate to be a wet blanket but I've got some like that.  Its difficult to get the jam out of the corners.  We finish up trying to scrape it out with a tea spoon as it almost impossible with a knife.  I dont use them unless i'm short of round ones altho they do look nice for pressies.

Yes you can use any, but  I want to do some for Christmas hampers.

In fact I have loads off people and that are saved but they are all different sizes and I want to use them for other things!!!

I think those jars look so much better than the odds and ends for pressies. For my own use I just keep old ones, OH always thinks I have too many but how can you have too many jars

I have found that sealant remover is great for getting all the labels and sticky stuff off, I always have a pot from Screwfix on the worktop

Brilliant - I'm not bothered if it's jam for me, but I'd been thinking of making some for Christmas presents and wasn't at all looking forward to repeatedly soaking and scraping the labels off.  Some come off easily but most seem determined to stay there forever!

Has anyone else bought jam jars from these people?  I bought some ages ago and they still havn't arrived.  I've contacted them by phone and sent numerous emails.  Received one reply and they are "looking into it".

Won't ever use them again, I'd rather pay a little more and buy from someone reliable. >:(

Most of the feedback is positive but just a few have the same problems as me.  I know another forum member that bought from them with no problem, which is why I took the risk. >:(
