These are our favourites and would love to grow them again this year. However, last year they cropped really well but when cooked, even for the shortest time, the outsides peeled back like bark and they weren't at all nice to eat! Any suggestions?

I grew them in potato bags from Marshall's and they were great, growing them again this year but you must remember to water regularly if they are in containers

Yea mine were in containers last year (and this year) - had to water pretty much every day, but was well worth it - absolutely delicious!

I also grow my Charlottes in bags (can't remember manufacturer) that I wash in Jeyes fluid and reuse every year, planting the spuds near the bottom in the cheapest compost I can find and filling bag half full, placing in a coldframe, topping up after sprouting (with an even cheaper mix over some ferltilizer), moving out to a bay that can have frost protection thrown over when they are too big for the cold frame, but I always keep them watered.
