Pricking out Onion Seedlings
« on: January 04, 2013, 16:58 »
Folks,

Sowed some onion seed that I got free with a magazine in a seed tray.  What do I do when/if they germinate?  Do I need to prick them out into modules etc. or do I leave them in the tray until they are big enough to plant out - will there be enough nutrients in the seed compost to keep them going?

I prick mine out into seed tray cells, (40 to a large seed tray), in fresh compost, and grow them on in them. Easy to remove from the cells and plant out at due time.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD, they have started to germinate so looks like I might get something out of them :)
