Has anyone managed to grow one of these?? I was given one that had been grown from seed, but ot has started to die--Help--what can I do??? :lol:

It's deciduous so it should be starting to "die" about now. Ours was in for 6 years before we saw a flower, they like a south or west facing. And good pruning to make them flower.

The thing is, is that all the leaves have dropped off, so is this supposed to happen??? :? I havent pruned them they have just dropped off :?  I would love to save it as have wanted one for a long time :lol:

Yes the leaves are supposed to drop off, is it in a pot or in the ground if it's in a pot I'd be tempted to protect the pot a little with straw or something just to keep the worst of the weather from it, especially if its this years seedling.

It is in a pot!! thanks for that tip :lol:  :lol:  :lol: what about putting it in my shed??? to protect it, is that a good idea?? :?  :lol:

Nah probably not in the shed, it may either dry out or shoot too early just some where sheltered will be fine

our mature one is dropping its leaves all over the place and i have a feeling they may be something thats hard to kill.

we pulled up a small one for fear of the roots damaging our neighbours property,  that was over a year ago,  however we must have missed a tiny bit of root because this year it sprang up in about 3 different places!

I ts also so much easier to prune when all the leaves have dropped.  :D

When it is fully established prune it all back to the 4th joint in autumn, and you will be rewarded with many beautiful flowers, but as others have said it is not evergreen, and don't panic if it doesn't kick off too early, they are usually late spring flowering.  Good luck.  Mrs Bouquet
