Title: home-made 'egg skelter' type storage ideas please!
Post by: Aliparty on June 28, 2013, 22:29
Hi,
I have just got chickens for the first time last weekend and so far we have had 8 eggs

I have seen some 'egg-skelters' and egg ramps for storing eggs which I think would be a fab idea for making sure that I keep the eggs in order of freshness.

The ramps are not too expensive but before I get one I wondered if anyone has any ingenious ideas for making my own version or using something else?

Many thanks, Alison.

Do you have any carpentry skills ? An egg ramp is easy, two tapered pieces of ply or thin wood pinned or glued either side of a batten with a cushioned stop at the bottom and a plain stop at the top.
Make it any length to suit the worktop or shelf.
Takes up less space than a circular skelter ! :)
