cockerel .. marks on combe
« on: November 19, 2011, 01:38 »
Hi All,  I have recently obtained a new cockerel about 18 months old, and i have noticed that he has developed a blackish grey markings on his combe, these were not there when we got him.

The previouse cokeral also had them, but he has since died..do i need to get this treated ?

a photo of his comb would help us decide if he has a problem or not.
How old was your other cockerel and what breed was he? Also did he have any other symptoms, temperature, tail down, hunched up, rattly breathing, unusual poohs etc?
Staffies are softer than you think.

You definitely need to take heed of Joyfulls suggestions but are you sure it is not dirt - I made that mistake (blushing madly)!! :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

The cockerel that died is the one in the profile photo, he was about 2 years, and yes, he was hunched up and tail down before he died, i do not know what breed he was , maybe some one can tell me from photo... i will post photo of new cockerel and marks on comb,   thank all for your input.

it could be the result of a scrape - maybe having been pecked or a fungal infection - try looking up favus.
