Title: My plum tree stopped bearing fruit.
Post by: nijjhar on June 04, 2019, 14:58
Hi,

I had a Victoria Plum plant from Lidl and it bore very heavy fruit when it started bearing fruit. It happened two seasons and after that scanty fruit.

I can't understand why and you may have a better idea.

Hi. We have a 15 yr old Victoria plum. 3 years ago the branches were so heavy with fruit we had to support one of them as it was touching the ground. Last year we didn't even get one flower. Absolutely true. Not that the frost got it , it just didn't have blossom which was bizarre. So obviously we didn't have 1 plum. As the tree was in a prominent position in the fruit and veg area i was going to cut it down . My husband said give it a chance and lo and behold, we have hundreds of little green fruit on it again. So pleased I listened to him. Like oak trees and acorns, they obviously have mast years. One thing I have got round to doing is buying a pheromone trap for the coddling moth . The annoying little worm that you get in some plums.
