I’ve just switched my OVO account from variable to fixed rate for a year.
I’m currently paying the same, but with price rises forecast for the autumn and who knows what after that, I would rather know what the bills will be. It is also the first fixed rate they have offered me which isn’t quite a bit more expensive than I have paid on variable.
The unit charges are slightly higher than the current variable rate, but the standing charges are lower. You do have to agree to a smart meter or already have one though.
Their on-line app lets you submit meter readings monthly and analyse your usage by £ or units month by month and compare year to year. It should save me money as a relatively low user. They reckon £140pa, but we will see
