My seedling have got about 2-3inches high and then have all flopped over 

They are very spindly but where fine this morning.

Why and what do i do now

Leggy doesnt help, put some foil around them to increase the light availability ASAP. What seedlings are they? You may be able to repot up to the seed leaves to help them.

It seems a bit sudden.  I'm just wondering about the possibility that at this time of year, the sun's strength is increasing and too often seedlings left in direct sunlight (especially in a greenhouse) or the air is very warm, they'll use up a lot more water and the compost dries out more quickly.  If the seedlings have not been potted on into bigger pots, their roots are confined and unable to access enough water to sustain them.

Beetroot and leeks and turnips.  carrots are just coming through now.

The arnt in direct sunlight and i only planted them a 8 days ago, they just shot up in the last couple of days and then fell over 

I have been using a spray gun to water them so i dont flood them

They are in the bedroom underneath the window but in a touch of shade atm, lack of space elsewhere im afraid

Looks like lack of light & too much warmth

They've been putting on rapid growth in an attempt to reach the light

I would re-sow, bearing in mind none of these seeds need to be indoors.

Can they be resown and placed in a mini green house outdoors then ?

Bearing in mind it has still been dipping down to 2-3 degrees on a night up north ?

You might want to consider leaving the seeds/seedlings exposed to the elements during the day, and then cover up at night, but they should be OK to just leave outside all the time.

I just made a similar mistake with my brassicas

I sow carrots & beetroot direct in the soil. Leeks I start in a cold greenhouse, but if you do as Ben suggests, you should be OK.
