New hens
« on: July 20, 2013, 14:50 »
Just added another 4 hens to my flock. I went for 3 more speckledy and 1 bluebelle.
I went on a 200mile round trip to Cumbria to get them as the first lot of hens I bought local were poor layers.
Will try and download photo

Prices can vary which can be down to breeding and if birds are vaccinated that can be costly.

They look as if they have settled in well.   :)

I bought them from a supplier that is listed in this site. They buy them in and bring them on for a few weeks then sell them. They are from one of the big concerns that breed them.

Thanks Epona. They are really friendly birds but the other hens are giving them a hard time.
The hens that were introduced to the flock last year were bullied and now they are the bullys.
It can be really vicious at times.

They used to be dinosaures.  Survival of the fittest, very terretorial.
