I bought a water butt from gumtree but it had no lid. Can't seem to find anywhere to buy them seperately.
Any ideas? or any bright ideas of what to use instead? Its behind a shed so doesn't need to look good!

An existing lid, from say. a dustbin or incinerator?
An old bicycle wheel rim with tarp pulled and stitched into the existing spoke holes?
I would have said some plywood but that would de-laminate - even when painted.
No lid as such at all, make a few holes around the butt rim (sorry, again :D) and pull some tarp tight using the holes to stitch the two together?
I'm sure these posts are put together so I have to talk about butt rims....this is the second one in a week...

No lid, become a dunker !
Life is too short to let the can fill from the tap, plus you will get distracted and the can will overflow and waste water ! ;)
Ps a bit of netting on the top when the songbirds are fledging will prevent any attempted suicides! :)

Timber to stop a tarp sagging and an elastic tie strap with the hooks at either end to go around the outside of the water but and hold it in place.

This keeps the flies out, but will probably need another old anorak every couple of years

I was dead chuffed when I thought of it. It could be improved :nowink: , but I haven't got around to that yet
