Drastic effect of lockdown!
« on: June 17, 2020, 18:56 »
Hi all,
I have spent the last 3 months thinking I was not going to be affected by lockdown (retired).

I make everyday drinking wine from kits costing £22 for 20 litres. Today I went on line to order some more kits and there were non of my usual available. Apparently lockdown supply problems. So I have had to order kits costing over £40.

Can I get a government grant to cover the extra costs?

Tony B.

Note; This complaint is in jest I am well aware of how trivial it is in comparison to the hardships many are suffering.

Tony, I may have bored everyone about this - including you, but this is well worth a pop!

Our elderberry supplier has shut down, so I searched for concentrate online, and eventually got some, but it was over £20.00 a litre! Check it out if you need!

However, because it is so well made, and very well concentrated, I can stretch it much further, such that there's enough for another forty-odd gallons, which will see us through to - say - a week on Thursday...

I'm not bored by anything on this site.

The problem has escalated though. The kits I use for everyday drinking are ready in 7 days - reality nearer 2 weeks. The replacement kits are 8 week kits, that is more like the fruit recepies. I have been told by my supplier there is a shortage and I went on line and found some 7 day kits (only 14 left in stock) to tied me over till the 8 week kits start comming in.

Elderberry concentrate sounds good till they start to ripen on the trees - many thanks.

Tony, you may be able to get your hands on some Turbo Yeast - that makes things pretty d*** quick, such that you need to keep the air-lock off, otherwise it's all over the ceiling!

I use it when desperation stakes appear...
