yesterday 1 of my ladies caught a mouse and as im trying to catch he she ran into the coop and she ate it i mean i could see her eating it an the tail was hanging out of her mouth as she is trying to swallow it it wasnt a very big mouse but i had no idea chickens did this will she be ok???

your hen should be fine, they are omnivores, when freeranging they will eat frogs, mice, worms, snails etc

They'll be fine, I think its always a shock as people assume chickens are vegetarian.

The first time Mr Raven saw ours fighting over a mouse he wrestled it off them - for it to then be eaten by the cat!

she'll be fine and on the up side it save you getting a mouse trap  my dad said as a kid his chickens ate his pet mice lol :lol:i agree with thrift though i think if i saw mine do it i would be put off their eggs for a while.

on the bright side, at least she wasn't playing tug- of -war over it with another hen

I wish mine would.  2 or mine originally came from a rat infested run so take no notice. Live next to farmers field who hasn't planted this year so mice will be lining up!!

I have electric fencing and 2 poor old frogs got zapped. I found their bodies all dried up and shrivelled  when I saw my Cream Lebar pecking at something.......  But i didnt realise they actually ate them. Im wondering if they had more as we had a migration of frogs across the lane with many casulaties of tractors etc
