Egg Laying Contraption
« on: November 21, 2014, 20:45 »
Hi

Does anybody know the name of a device that you place in the nest box. When the hen lays an egg it rolls away preventing the hen soiling the egg. I have a couple of hens that are obviously roosting in the nest box. So subsequently the eggs have poo and  mud on them. I have been told this is because the perches are not higher than the nest box.

Thanks

BB

Not a device as such, but a sloping floor towards the back/outside of the henhouse where you collect it.

Cheap as chips, diy preferred
Will swap root cuttings etc

Surely a regularly cleaned coop keeps the eggs clean?
