i have some marigolds in the garden one of the larger plants started to form a seed head but then i noticed that all aroung the edge its formed 8 new flowerheads is this a mutant as it never happend with these before it look quite good they have a lovley bright orange flat petal very cheary for thos grim time of year , will try to get a pic and repost later , got a stinking cold at the mo and cannot be chewed sorry .

That does sound like you've got a 'sport'. Save the seed and see if it comes the same again. If it does, you could sell it for some nice money to the breeders.

Interesting. Are they all bearing about 8 stems? I've not seen so many before.

no there is only this one on this plant and one on the next plant but that only has 2 coming from the side but that one has a few seeds in the centre it looks a bit wierd but we shall see .
i will plant the seeds from it in one place to see if it happens again , if a had a goat it would have 5 legs handy around easter .

Good idea. Keep selecting the seeds which had the multiples and eventually it might come true as such. Could be worth money in a few years. ;)
