Todays sunday roast was somewhat of a special moment for myself,it was the first time that most of the produce was my own.The early potatoes with a monster of a cauli, cabbage and my early carrots were a joy to eat, even the children finished the lot off.   But the best was the swiss chard which was steamed then put in a pan with butter and a sprinkle of pepper. :D  :D Just remembered the broad beans which only i enjoy. :D  :D

Whoever wrote "You're nearer to God in a garden than anywhere else on earth" was so right.  Nothing beats eating what you've grown yourself.

Lucky you

We’ve eaten out for the past 3 Sundays so I am looking forward to this coming Sunday when we will have a choice from my own Cabbage, Cauli, Calabrese, Courgettes, Carrots, Broad Beans and new potatoes (Pentland Javelin) 5 more days and counting.  The only problem is choosing which to have.

It's times like that you forget all the hard work you had to put in, digging, clearing, wheeling barrow after barrow of muck, enjoy the rewards you deserve them.
