never bothered growing peas before, but as one of my lads has gone off veg for some reason and the only thing we can get him to eat are peas I decided to try some this year with his help, went and harvested some peas yesterday all kids were sat there eating more then they were actually picking and enjoying them. they got up this morning and first things said was "happy fathers day can we go and pick some peas for breakfast?"

Lovely story.  It really does get the children excited about vegetables!

My son (aged 2) is currently pea-obsessed, he asks for peas from the garden 'as a treat'. Long may it last! And he'll eat any veg that mummy says has come from the garden or the allotment.

I don't lie much .
My music teacher was right. If you have to make a mistake, make it good and big and loud; with a bit of luck people will think that it was always meant to be like that.

That's all my sis and I used to plant on our 'plots' on our grandparents allotment - and the harvesting bit was always the best bit. I still love it, just had some of mine yesterday  :D

Loving fresh peas and wanting to grow them was what gave me my interest in gardening, then GYO and finally a BTEC national diploma in countryside management and then a teaching qualification to come.

A lot for a humble veg with a proud pedigree going back thousands of years  :D
