food processors
« on: June 29, 2012, 21:04 »
hi all

i have had a kenwood food processor / mixer for over 25yrs and it's getting to that time where it's showing its age, it can slice and dice, but i use it mainly for making cakes but  i'd like one that can knead bread dough as well.

can any one recommend a good one?

I have a kitchen aid which I love - they are made by hobart which can be found in most commercial kitchens. But the Kenwood chef are still made and just as good.  :)

My Kenwood Multichef which I won in a raffle about 30 years ago is still going strong and I wouldn't change it for anything.   It does anything I ask of it (unllike this keyboard).  If I had to get a new one it would only be a Kenwood.

I also second KitchenAid.  They're amazingly robust and they come with a 10 year guarantee.  I have a KA stand mixer and a food processor.  Bit pricey but well worth it!

I can recommend a Kenwood chef. brilliant for making cakes and the dough hook works brilliantly on bread.

I have had mine for more years than I care to own up to.

Only needed a minor repair at the beginning of the year. Has a really big bowl for large batch bakes.

And yes Rachel the chef comes with a dough hook.

Mine is in the cupboard and after all these years is still in its plastic bag unused.  I take my tempter tantrums out on anything that needs a dough hook!!

Mine's 28 years old Lizt and there are still places online who specialise in parts for it.  :)

I had always wanted a Kenwood Chef, but couldn't afford it.  I did buy one off Ebay a few years back, but it kept blowing up the motor, even the recon one I bought.

But 5 years ago when I got my first pension payout, I treated myself, and I love it.  It came with a dough hook and whisk as well as the 'K' beater and I got the liquidiser.  Then the following year I bought the mincer and sausage making attachment.

I love it!!!!

I saved up and treated myself to a Kitchen Aid and have never regretted it. You can get a lot of parts for it, including the excellent 'passata' type attachment, even a grain grinder for flour if you're inclined.

I'd love all the attachments (not that I'd use them all!).  Was hoping to get some when I go to the US over Christmas, but I've heard they're slightly different and won't fit my UK one :(  Shame, as they're miles cheaper over there.

You're right, a North American one wouldn't work in the UK because our plugs are different as well as the electrical power amounts in our lines.
