sediments any good for composting

so 1 told me u can pour sediments of a home brew on to ya garden plants like roses,shrubs.
or are they having me on :unsure:

if its any good for plant can u mix it in a compost heap.

I pour my yeasty sediments onto paper shreddings and straw from the hen run and I've found it helps them rot down.
