Fresia bulbs sprouting.
« on: October 04, 2013, 11:37 »
I grew some fresias a couple of years ago, and they did quite well. The next year, after repotting the bulbs, absolutely nothing showed, so I took the bulbs out and just left them in a traty in the greenhouse. I've noticed this morning that they are showing nice little green shoots. Should I pot them up now, or leave them till sometime later.

Not sure, but if they have started sprouting now, the greenhouse has fooled them. I'd pot them up and bring them into the house and put them in a coolish place and you might get flowers for Crimbo!!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I put them all into a big, long planter a couple of weeks ago and there are shoots coming up all over the place. :) They are in the unheated greenhouse, which is where they will stay. It would be nice to see them flower but I'm not holding my breath. I seem to remember that when they last flowered, it was the middle of summer.
