I've always been under the impression that weigelia only flower on the previous years growth. Well mine don't. Not this year anyway. I've three different types which I pruned back after they flowered this year. They have all put out new growth, and lo and behold, it's now flowering!

I can't comment on that ,but I do think this season has been a little different ! I have had a passion flower for 5 years which has never flowered this year it is dripping in fruit  ???
