because i have just been given a bag load - wondered if they were of any use to anyone?

grind up for use in mulching a path :?:

dunno about re-using for homebrew - wouldn't they taint the wine/beer with what they originally corked?

or for making a funny kind of hat, that repels flying insects?  :lol:

chuck em in a pan boiling water  boil for 15 mins and then allow to dry naturally n resuse em :wink: if they have holes in use em to stick on canes to stop poking ur eyes out or fly dodgers on ya hat  :wink:

I'd be a bit wary of using them for wine etc

You'd be better off with fresh ones.

But the eye protectors sound a good idea! :wink:

they are mostly the sythetic ones - not cork corks - if that makes a difference

If by synthetic you mean reconstituted, silicone treated cork, as I use:

Others may re-use them, but I throw them in the log basket, then on the fire, as it's not worth losing a bottle of wine for the sake of a few pence on a new cork.

The more you make, the less time there is for partying. I've just picked and stoned 162 lbs of wild red plums to make 18 gallons @ 9 lbs/gall. With approx 50 small plums per pound, that was around 8,000 plums that I stoned (if not removed they spoil the wine with a bitter flavour).

Now there's all those blackberries to get out and pick/freeze/pasteurise juice, then a few elderberries & sloes, then pear & apple pressing. All of which has to be fitted in with growing fruit & veg.

The best remedy for rural stress is sitting on a bale of straw amongst the hens, sipping a large glass of a good country wine.

Cain't disagree wit dat, True more ye make less drinkin' time but so enjoyed when well earnt.  The blackberries are ere now first pick yesterday all the crown berries taken so the rest ripen 120 lb last year don't look so good this time yet hopes I'm wrong
