Onion sets
« on: March 03, 2012, 21:42 »
I've been growing my own for more years than I care to remember but a question arose in my mind today when I was planting some onion sets. Is there any correlation between the size of the sets and the size of the fully grown onion? Do big sets produce big onions? Has anyone ever run a trial?

No difference in the size but bigger sets are said to bolt easier if conditions force them to bolt..
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

Gavins right IMO the only thing that'll affect the size of an onion is the spacing between sets when planting.
